Christmas lunch at the Rising Sun

  1. So many of these fantastic birds die over the Winter because of starvation - at least this one will be kept going for a bit longer. What a work of art this beautiful bird is! (I'm trying not to think too much about the pile of feathers at its feet).

  2. Such stunning birds indeed. They've all got to feed. I wonder how much harder it is for someone like yourself, a vegetarian, seeing such images.
As long as there is no suffering involved, i can handle it.

  3. I do find such images difficult to handle John. Your photograph was alright for me because the only evidence of the 'victim' were the feathers. I can't watch wildlife programmes on t.v. though, where they show animals hunt and kill other animals. I fully understand it's not only necessary, but vital, for them to catch their prey, but I'd rather not watch the process.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm vegetarian - even if I ate meat I still don't think I could handle such images. I know lots of meat eaters who cannot bear to think of what goes on in the slaugherhouse.

Well, it's almost tea-time..... I'm off to capture some quorn from the fridge! :O)

  4. I'm off for ANOTHER turkey sandwich.
I would just like to point out the turkey was SUPPOSED to be looked after before it was killed and i ate it. Like all the meat and eggs my family eat.........i would not touch battery with a bargepole. In fact the things i would do with Bernard Matthews !

  5. John, your mention of turkey sandwiches gave me an idea for a post on my blog. It's not a serious dig at you or anyone else.... just a bit tongue-in-cheek. :D

I agree with you in that if the animals were cared for and slaughtered compassionately then it might make the industry more bearable.
